A Conversation With
Prof. John Rainford

Why practical education matters more than theory in a rapidly changing world.

Today, I had a Google Meet conversation with Prof. John Rainford from the UK, a man who has spent years helping people grow through leadership, communication, and practical training. What started as a simple discussion turned into one of the most eye-opening lessons on what education should look like.

Prof. John believes that education fails when it stays in theory. According to him, real learning begins when you apply, experiment, and experience things outside the classroom. He said something that stayed with me:

“If you want people to grow, stop giving them answers. Give them real situations.”

— Prof. John Rainford

We spoke about how young people today don’t need more information — they need exposure, clarity, and practical tools. He shared that his entire vision is to bring learning into real life: through conversations, real examples, leadership practice, and hands-on experiences that prepare you for the world, not just exams.

Listening to him made me reflect on my own journey. I didn’t learn by memorizing chapters — I learned by working with people from Australia and the UK, building skills from home, and now by exploring Mumbai to understand how leadership really works.

The biggest takeaway from Prof. John was this:

“Experience is the only teacher that never lies.”

For youth like us, this is a reminder: Don’t wait for the perfect course or perfect moment. Start doing. Start learning from real people, real situations, and real conversations.

This blog is my small effort to bring that kind of practical wisdom to everyone just like I’m learning along the way.
